Dear Friends,
This is a thank you. We at Basement Artists have had a great year that included new additions to our staff and increased attendance to some of our best Music & Art Shows yet. More importantly though, we need to thank you for your continued support and attendance throughout all our endeavors to bring out local talent and provide a supportive and constructive exhibition space for artists and musicians alike.
For seven years, Basement Artists has been host to 80 Music & Art shows. We have worked with hundreds of artists and bands alike, not only to provide entertainment for Ottawa residents, but also to help creators in their search for an audience, recognition and artistic satisfaction. Our greatest and happiest achievement has been creating a community that allows for the appreciation and cultivation of the arts on a local (and sadly, often over looked) level. We thank you for being apart of this growing community.
We also must thank all the bands and artists that have worked with us. It is needless to say that without your constant creative output, there would be no shows to hold, no fun to be had. Your work inspires ours.
To be more specific in our gratitude; Mercury Lounge, Cajun Attic, Zaphod Beeblebrox, Babylon, Anne and George Stairs, Oh So Good, Neon Clothing Store, Pilates Patio and The Buzz Restaurant have all been excellent sponsors, whose support has allowed us to continue our work in the home grown and underground arts scene.
With that being said, there is also some news that needs to be addressed: in the upcoming year, Basement Artists will transition into Skullcap Productions, rendering our current group obsolete. Skullcap Productions will continue to play host to events that put local music and art in the spotlight, but with a larger emphasis on the former of the two mediums. But there will still be visual art, along with the sonic. Many of the bands and artists we’ve featured in the past shows will by staying with us during this transition, and we hope you, the audience, will too. Our first show under the new Skullcap direction will be on January 16th 2013 with shows continuing every other month until November of the same year. Overall, this is not going to be a radical overhaul, but one that will see many useful changes take place that will server to better the experience of our events for bands, artists, and audience. For more information on the transition, you can check back on this website or find us on facebook.
Again, thanks to our loyal sponsors, attendees, artists and musicians for the constant support that has allowed us to shed light on some of our city's most talented individuals. The pleasure has been all ours.
Cheers,
The Basement Artists Staff
